request, to leave this city for Missilimakinac and return the same year with the
... that the said voyageur use normally from the said place and to help, when
going up and returning, in bringing the canoes, merchandise, and furs belonging
to the said sieur, to take care, including victuals and travelling utensils, to
obey him or those responsible for the canoes, to serve him faithfully, make his
profit, avoid his loss, to warn him of any losses, and do all that is legal and
honest, to not leave his service or perform any personal trade without his
consent under penalty of the ordinance, and to lose all of his wages and
employment, this for the sum of one hundred and fifty livres, currency of this
country, that will be paid to him upon his return to the city, as his salary and
wages, in addition, a cotton shirt, a pair of mittens, and one ... for such
